The Obama visit to Texas

August 11, 2010

Obama visits Texas and you will never guess what he said.

“The policies that crashed the economy, that undercut the middle class, that mortgaged our future, do we really want to go back to that, or do we keep moving our country forward?”

“When we talk about this going back thing, I notice that some Republicans say, Well, he just wants to bash the previous administration, he’s looking backwards.’ … No, no, no. The reason we’re focused on it is because the other side isn’t offering anything new,”

“There’s been a fundamental lack of seriousness on the other side,”

“It’s not like they engaged in some heavy reflection. They have not come up with a single, solitary new idea to address the challenges of the American people. They don’t have a single idea that is different from George Bush’s,”

“Day after day they keep stalling this bill and stonewalling this bill and opposing this bill. Why? Pure politics. They’re more interested in the next election than the next generation,”

Ok, maybe you saw that coming.  Perhaps it is because Obama knows people are not educated on the history of his economic polices and the damage they have caused in the past.  Maybe it is just his lack of leadership ability.  Whatever the reason, it is obvious that if any of his polices had actually been effective, he would be promoting those instead of bashing Bush again.  Two years after taking the office and 4 years after taking Congress, Obama and his liberal friends still are blaming others.  It is amazing to me that he does not seem to comprehend that the policies he is promoting and the ones he is criticizing are one and the same.  Obama is a part of a group that cannot get past party politics to see the actual political philosophies behind the policies.  He might be shocked to find that not everyone with an R behind their name is conservative.

The second part of this tired argument is the concept that Republicans are just obstructionists with no ideas of their own.  When is someone in the media going to call him on this?  Republicans in Congress have even put them on one page so they are easy to find On this page you will find alternative healthcare legislation, alternative energy legislation, a no cost jobs plan, and an alternative budget.  And those certainly are not all of the ideas coming from the other side of the aisle.  One of my favorites is the economic freedom act which I highlighted in one of my past posts.  Maybe they are not the best solutions, but maybe they are.  But to say there are no plausible alternative ideas to his big government plans is simply not honest.   And like I said before, someone should call him on that.  In my opinion the Federal government should work on spending less before anything else.  They should see what they can get out of rather than looking for more and more to take over.  The fact that he is spending money that we do not have at a record pace and then accuses the other party of not caring about the next generation is almost too much for me to bear.

But what can you do?  We certainly cannot make him tell the truth or make him understand basic economics (evidently).  Perhaps he made those comments because he knew he was speaking to his loyal followers…the type that forked up $500,000 to further his agenda.  (there were no public appearances for the One in Texas…I wonder why)  I guess Democrats can be glad he at least did not make the comment Harry Reid did at one of his events.

“I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?”

The irony is that his son, Rory Reid, is losing badly in the race for Governor of Nevada…to a Hispanic Republican, Brian Sandoval.

Im not sure if you heard the interview with Governor Perry today on the Michael Berry show, but it’s pretty interesting that the Gov. of one of the largest states in the Country only gets a 27 second hand shake with the President. Go to ktrh.com and click on Michael Berry and the letter that Perry wrote to Obama is posted.

Great point. Did not get the chance but thanks for the info. And a governor of a state that is doing pretty well considering the circumstances. If he was really fighting for the good of the country you would think he would spend more time with him, but we all know that is not the case. He is in it for elections.
