Ammo to use against your liberal friends

June 16, 2010

Your first ammo against most liberals is the people and the groups that they associate with.  Most of these associations go unnoticed because of the lack of media scrutiny.  They often go unnoticed…take this quick statement from Obama during his speech earlier this month at Carnegie Mellon.

I also want to acknowledge your outstanding  mayor — who doesn’t look any older than the last time I saw him — Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

Pretty harmless compliment until you realize what kind of person Luke Ravenstahl is.  Here are a few things copied from Wikipedia about this 30 year old mayor.

on Halloween night 2005 at Heinz Field, then-City Councilman Ravenstahl shoved a Pittsburgh police officer and was led away in handcuffs but released shortly after

Ravenstahl also created controversy for his participation in the $9,000-a-head Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational golf outing in June 2007. His participation was sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center…Six months later, mayor Ravenstahl introduced legislation that would have kept UPMC from paying any future taxes, and possibly some current taxes

Over the weekend of August 18, 2007, Ravenstahl used a Homeland Security funded SUV to go to a Toby Keith concert at the Post Gazette Pavilion. The Mayor’s use of the GMC Yukon to travel to the concert may have violated the terms of the grant that funded the purchase of the vehicle. Responding to the allegations of impropriety, Ravenstahl said “I’m still going to continue to be who I’m going to be, and go to concerts like I always have, and go to have a drink with my wife in bars. That’s what 27-year-olds do and I shouldn’t be any different”…Sgt. Mona Wallace was reportedly intimidated for reporting the incident to Public Safety Director Michael Huss.  Police Chief Nate Harper began disciplinary measures against Wallace, but the reprimand was rescinded by Huss

In December 2006, Matthew McTish, president of McTish, Kunkel & Associates, gave $10,000 to Ravenstahl’s campaign. In August 2007, McTish, Kinkel & Associates was awarded a $525,000 contract by the Urban Redevelopment Authority despite being the highest of three bidders

In February 2009, Ravenstahl was criticized for having spent $252,000 of state grant money in 250 trash receptacles bearing his name…this during a campaign.

In response to ACLU lawsuits against the city for violation of first amendment rights during the G20 Summit Ravenstahl attended “Off the Record,” an intentionally raucous charity event hosted by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. According to reports, Ravenstahl in character went on stage dressed in police riot gear and acknowledged the ACLU lawsuits against the city related to issues of freedom of speech, saying “I have some free speech for you – f$$$ you, Vic Walczak.” (Walczak is the Legal Director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania.)

You can pass it off as simply being courteous if Obama did not have a history of advisors and appointees with similar character issues. Here is just a small list of them.

Van JonesHarold Koh, Kevin Jennings, David Ogden, Gregory CraigEric Holder, Rahm Emanuel, Jeremiah Wrightand don’t forget about his bundlers…and more bundlers.

Please feel free to bring all of these people up when your liberal friends try to defend Obama and others.  Also do not be afraid to remind them that Obama promised to bring change to the Washington culture.  When you promise something like that, saying that Republicans do it too is not exactly a great excuse.  There will be more ammo to follow.  After character and judgment comes policy.
