I imagine that if this administration spent half the time trying to fix problems as they do trying to demonize political enemies and their policies, they might actually come up with some solutions. But we all know that is not the case, and is certainly not the case with the Arizona law. Since its introduction, all they have done is spread negative propaganda…even before they read the law, which was finally admitted by Holder when questioned. The White House has gone as far as support a foreign leader over the security of its own people. President Calderon of Mexico visited here recently and criticized the Arizona law before Congress, getting a standing ovation from Democrats, Holder, Napolitano and Vice President Joe Biden (who we recently learned was a member of parliament for 36 years as he was promoting Brussels, home of some of the most undemocratic institutions in the world, as a much better representative of the capital of the free world…please, someone, stop him from talking anymore)
It does seem quite amazing to me that they would want to take advice from a leader who can not secure his own people from the cartel. But in Calderon’s defense, maybe he is against the Arizona law because more of these thugs will be going back to his country now…I don’t think the Democrats actually probed him for a why. After his meeting with Calderon, Obama made the following comments.
“We also discussed the new law in Arizona, which is a misdirected effort – a misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system, and which has raised concerns in both our countries…And I want everyone, American and Mexican, to know my administration is taking a very close look at the Arizona law. We’re examining any implications, especially for civil rights. Because in the United States of America, no law-abiding person – be they an American citizen, a legal immigrant, or a visitor or tourist from Mexico – should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like.”
These statements are revealing because of what he said and what he did not say. He did not mention that the only reason Arizona finally came to the conclusion that it needed the law was because the federal government was not doing its job and has shown no plans to even try. I think this became very apparent when Obama’s administration went after Sheriff Joe in one of its first planned partisan attacks. I wrote about it as well as some much smarter people. He also failed to mention amendments that were added to the law to address issues of profiling brought up by initial critics. Finally, he along with just about every other major media outlet, failed to mention that the law has a 71% approval rating in the state. Considering the high Hispanic population of the state, this is a pretty clear message about the purpose of the legislation and the underlying purpose of the White House in its attacks. I don’t think I have to explain that any more.
Instead of mentioning these things, the President once again played politics, demonizing the law and those who support it. (Alinsky rule of polarization) In doing so, though, he revealed a few things. First, he has not read the law, or if he has, does not have good reading comprehension skills. He said “should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like”. A cornerstone of the new law is that you have to have broken the law in the first place and on top of that there must be some reasonable suspicion that you are in the country illegally…say like if you are nervous answering obvious questions or perhaps cannot speak English. This last year on a train from Germany to Paris I was asked for my passport at least a couple of times…and for good reason. I can’t speak German or French. (My southern accent gives me away every time)
Another unintended point was his mention of civil rights. Maybe not the mention of it, but the doors it will open. This is the angle the President plans to attack the law with. The head of DOJ civil rights is the ever famous Thomas Perez, who I mentioned in the Black Panther case. This will be the division that goes after the Arizona law so maybe you should know a little more about Perez. Here is what I got from an article at Heritage.
“Obama’s political appointee, Thomas Perez, has an obvious conflict of interest that prevents him from providing objective advice to the President and the Attorney General on any issue involving illegal aliens. Prior to his nomination to Justice, Perez served as the president of Casa de Maryland, an extreme advocacy organization that opposes enforcement of our immigration laws. This is a group that has:
- encouraged illegal aliens not to speak with police officers or immigration agents;
- fought restrictions on illegal aliens’ receiving driver’s licenses;
- urged local police not to enforce federal fugitive warrants;
- advocated giving illegal aliens in-state tuition; and
- actively promulgated “day labor” sites, where illegal aliens and disreputable employers openly skirt federal prohibitions on hiring undocumented individuals.
When he was a local councilman in Maryland in 2003, Perez tried to force local governments to accept matricula consular ID cards issued by the Mexican consul as a valid form of identification.”
Just another radical appointment that has flown under the radar thus far, but maybe not for long. Perhaps Holder and the rest of this administration should stop their antics, which includes the sanctuary city police chief meeting going on right now, and actually work on doing their job. Secure the border and the actual citizens of this country.
