Ideas for a better Union: Idea 4 – Remove funding for Title X Family Planning

I am finally back from my Honeymoon in Jamaica and am getting settled back into my day to day grind.  I was sadly delayed from this grind by a day because of the death of a dear family friend.  She will be sorely missed as I (as many others) am a better person today because of her, but we all find comfort in knowing she is in a much better place now.

But back to politics…I am really out of the loop on the disasters coming out of Washington, but I will try to catch up this week.  For today I thought I would just offer a simple idea.  A single budget item that will make us better people while spending less money…the removal of funding for Title X Family Planning.  In last years budget there was $317.4 million allocated for this funding, most of which goes to the abortion provider planned parenthood. Over a four year period, this would save the country about $1.3 billion.  For many government funded organizations I can understand gradually cutting off funding to help our government’s spending problem while allowing time for private funding to take over, but I do not feel this is applicable to all funding.  Especially to any organization that would provide abortions.  The killing of innocent babies is a travesty and public money should not be used for this purpose.  If liberals feel it is important for this to be available, then they should use their private money to fund it.  The blood can then be on their hands and not the unknowing taxpayer.  Hopefully our society will come to the point where we will once again see this as an abomination, but until then our government should not fund it.
