Constitutional Amendment to Protect Traditional Marriage

Since I am getting married this weekend, I thought it fitting to put this idea forward now.  I think the time has come to protect the sanctity of marriage with a Constitutional amendment that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.  I say the time has come because of an increasingly activist court system, an increasingly liberal legislative, and the influence a small minority of liberal groups have on them.  Allowing anything with irreverence to its morality is an act of legal positivism, not tolerance.  And our country was not founded on the principle of legal positivism; it was founded with the understanding that even the government was bound by a higher moral authority.  This fact is one of the key pieces of evidence that proves we were indeed founded as a Christian nation, but by no means the only evidence.  To show even a small piece of that evidence will take more than this post, but I welcome any attempts to prove me wrong (keep in mind I might not be able to respond for a week or so though).

To some allowing homosexual marriage or polygamy (whose activists are embedded with the same sex marriage group) is not a big deal, but I would caution people not to fall into this trap.  To understand how big of a trap it is, you have to understand a little history of the people behind the liberal anti-Christian movement.  Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are followers (for lack of a better word) of the late Saul Alinsky.  Many people know about Mr. Alinsky and his rules for radicals that have guided the leadership of the left for decades, but his ideas are not original.  Alinsky mirrored Italian Communist Antonio Gramsci.  Gramsci believed, as Alinsky did, that change to a socialist/communist state must involve infiltration of organizations such as churches and be gradual.  Alinsky and his followers on the left have done exactly that.  They have gradually infiltrated political organizations, unions, higher education, and churches.  Of these, the church is the most devastating.  Gramsci was very vocal about how Stalin’s revolutionary plan would not work in the West, specifically because of our nation’s Christian foundation.  Note that this is both evidence of our Christian founding and that Christian principles do not support the socialistic state that the left is driving us towards.  The reason that this is so muddled is because they have in fact infiltrated the Church.  They are taking down the Christian absolutes and values that Gramsci said had to be removed before such a state could be installed.  Whether you believe this historical linkage or not, the evidence is all around us.  That is why we have churches such as the one Obama attended for 20 years that do not teach biblical truths.  They teach economic mal-distribution and that there is nothing immoral about homosexual marriage, two key components of liberal ideology.  Once this false doctrine has spread in the church, you have successfully “clothed it in moral garments” as Alinsky describes in the second chapter of his book.

That is why I feel it is important to protect traditional marriage.  As history has shown, the destruction of Christian values only leads to bad things.  In this case it is the acceptance of immoral behavior, or what God calls an abomination.  You really do not have to go further than Genesis 2 to end this argument.  In God’s original creation, before there was sin, he created them male and female.  No matter how man has messed it up over history, this was God’s design.  Here is a good page explaining what the bible says about homosexual relationships that I have posted before.  The bible discusses it in many other verses as well…perhaps I will do a post on those when I have more time.
