According to this report, the Obama Justice Department “is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series”. This was in response to a letter from Republican Senator Orrin Hatch asking them to do so. Back in 2008 Obama said he was going to “throw [his] weight around a little bit” to try to influence a college playoff system. Evidently he will stay true to this promise.
I know there is more important stuff to write about (I do plan on writing up something on the state of the union), but this story caught my ADD. But even more certain than this, I know both the administration and any member of Congress have more important things to do. I suggest they try to get their respective jobs done before worrying about avenging perceived wrongs to their favorite college football team.
It is especially amazing considering this same DOJ refuses to go after voter intimidation. I actually wrote about that a couple of times now. They also could spend their time investigating Rahm Emanuel’s role in the GSE corruption scandal. They have been asked to do this. Or they could perhaps investigate the administration and their handling of the car bailout and subsequent bankruptcies. There was absolutely nothing legal about that deal.
As for Congress, I do not really have to list what their priorities should be. I think if they could learn how to balance a budget and not go on ridiculous stimulus spending sprees, we would all be a little happier. For my part, I will come up with something better to write about tomorrow.
