The more global warming is exposed as a Hoax of the radical left, the more defensive this administration gets. This week the EPA (led by Lisa Jackson) declared carbon dioxide to be a dangerous pollutant under the Clean Air Act. The same EPA who suppressed information counter to this decision. This in effect gives the Obama administration authority to regulate 85% of US industry without having to bother with pesky things such as passing Cap and Trade legislation.
This does a couple of things. First, Obama would look pretty bad going to Copenhagen with nothing accomplished in his own country. The Cap and Trade Legislation is pretty doomed here in the states. It does not have a lot of support because one, a lot of people are waking up to the bogus arguments of these alarmists, and second, the legislation will cause significant damage to the US economy. With the mounting opposition, Obama needed something so he basically did it himself since there was no hope of legislation passing anytime soon.
But scientific evidence and no public support of an ultra liberal policy is not going to stop this Chicago thug from eventually getting it passed, which brings me to my second point. By effectively taking complete control of US industry, Obama has enlisted a strategy that even the Mob would be proud of. And I might have missed it if it were not for our friend John Kerry.
“The message to Congress is crystal clear: get moving. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration is more than justified to use the EPA to impose new regulations. Imposed regulations by definition will not include the job protections and investment incentives we are proposing in the Senate today. Given the potential for agency regulation, those who now aim to grind the legislative process to a halt would later come running to Congress to secure the kinds of incentives we can pass today. Industry needs the certainty that comes with Congressional action on this vital issue.” – Sen. John Kerry
So there is the administration’s strategy. ‘We need to pass our Cap and Trade Legislation or the EPA is going to enforce regulations that will really damage jobs and our economy’. And he said it as if the administration and the Democratic majority in Congress aren’t working together on this. Like, hey…I am the good cop here. The truth of the matter is this. Just like they bully and intimidate political enemies, they are now using this same tactic to pressure industry. Hope and Change.
(In case you would like to read up on this Copenhagen conference, here is a good article on what you need to know about it from Heritage Foundation’s Ben Lieberman.)
