Amendment to deny abortion coverage rejected

December 9, 2009

So much is going on right now it is hard to keep up.  There is the EPA’s power grab and Obama’s new stimulus plan.  That’s right, another stimulus.  I will probably talk about both this week, but the healthcare debate is going on as well.  It is indeed getting ugly.  Here is Reid’s view on Republicans who are opposing their Obamacare plan-

“If you think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right…When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said, ‘Slow down, it’s too early, things aren’t bad enough.’ “

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele (who is a black guy in case you did not know) has called for an apology from Reid, and if none is given, has called upon Senate Democrats to strip him of his leadership position.  No apology is coming.  The Senate Democrats instead defended Reid yesterday. Not only was the statement inappropriate, it also misrepresents conservatives’ views on healthcare reform.  He is preaching the same old tired line that conservatives do not want reform instead of the truth.  That is conservatives believe it can be achieved without government intrusion into our lives and without the erosion of our freedoms.  And I don’t believe it is necessary to go into the irony of this outrageous statement coming from the party that fought against the civil rights movement.  Its too much.

Oh, and by the way, abortion coverage is still in.

Yesterday the Senate rejected an amendment that would restrict abortion in the new health care plan.  The truth of the matter is though that Reid probably does not have the votes to pass it with abortion coverage in the bill.  The scary part is what he said about this conundrum.  “If in fact he doesn’t succeed here, we’ll try something else,” continuing that he would alter the language to find something acceptable.  This is the way these people think….well, if we don’t get it through this way, then we will just change the language to accomplish the same thing, but people will not realize it.  What happened to being clear cut and honest?  It is either covered or it is not.  Obviously they want it in the bill so they will word it any way they can to create a loophole.

One of the most vocal supporters of Abortion and allowing its coverage is Senator Boxer of California.  Here are her comments.

“Why are women being singled out here? It’s so unfair…We don’t tell men that if they want to … buy insurance coverage through their pharmaceutical plan for Viagra that they can’t do it.”

“This amendment would be the biggest rollback to a woman’s right to choose in decades…What have women done to deserve this?”

That is correct.  Sen. Boxer compared a woman’s right to kill the unborn to a man’s right to purchase Viagra.

May God have mercy on us.

The democrats have a wee bit of a problem with facts. It is a fact that the Republicans sought to end slavery and were successful, while the democrats wanted to expand it. Remember the Emancipation Proclamation…….yes, that would the same Republican Abe Lincoln. Lying by the democrats is so common I can’t imagine any of them are even considered for public office.

………and I can’t even fathom that Viagra and murder of a child are even mentioned in the same breath. Boxer is an idiot.

It is that selective history problem again. That combined with an uneducated populace can be a very dangerous combination.
