In 2007 Texas added the words “under God” to the Texas pledge. A day later David Croft and his wife began the fight to have it removed. And they are continuing it to this day. Luckily Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and his office are continuing the good fight. I did find Croft’s blog so I checked it out and he is really out there. Spend a couple seconds there and it would not surprise you at all that he holds the views that he does. To give you an idea, in response to “numerous blog postings and emails” opposed to his actions, Croft responded with
“All the bad things that are going to happen to me are supposedly going to happen in the afterlife…It’s hard to take that seriously.”
When you think about it, it is pretty sad that his kids will be infused with these same backward ideals. Kinda reminds me of the movie “Idiocracy.” It’s a very dumb movie, but unfortunately seems to be more and more realistic every day. The bottom line is that Croft and those like him represent everything that is wrong with this country. Every problem that exists today can be traced back to the removal of God from our institutions and homes. In addition to this, there is an education issue.
Croft also represents a very uneducated segment of our society. They are a group that has a very selective sense of American history. So selective that they have disregarded its entire founding and development. In fact the only portion of American history they seem to recognize is when a series of liberal minded judges inaccurately interpreted the Constitution in its decisions on the separation of Church and State.
With this in mind, there is a great book that I have mentioned before called by some the ACLU’s worst nightmare. It is The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States written by Benjamin F. Morris. It is a very dry read, but it is a book full of historical references to our country’s Christian founding. The book was good in 1864 and it is still good today. Maybe we should all tell Mr. Croft about it to clear up any confusion he may have. Better yet, maybe we should tell his lawyers about it. They are the enablers for these people. Croft’s lawyer is Dean Cook from Cook and Cook law offices. Here’s a link to their site. They operate out of Plano, Texas. They appear to be ones who abide by the old adage of “education enables a man to get along without the use of his intelligence.” Or maybe it is just a lack of conscience that allows them to do what they do.
