Yet another instance of something Obama wishes everyone would just forget. The powers that be probably will, but I will not. The Inspector General Reform Act of 2008 requires the administration give Congress 30 days prior notice of the removal of an Inspector General. In the case of IG Gerald Walpin, Obama’s administration gave this letter to Congress on the evening of 11 June 2009. The only problem is that Inspector General Gerald Walpin was given an ultimatum over the phone to resign or be fired on 10 June 2009. When he refused to resign, he was fired by Obama 45 minutes later. So at a minimum Obama broke the law, but that is not the major concern in the minority report released by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The evidence they provide show that the firing was politically motivated and used to help out a couple of Obama allies.
These allies; Sacramento Mayor and Obama supporter Kevin Johnson and CNCS Board Chairman and major Obama fundraiser Alan Solomon (among others).
Here is what went down. Gerald Walpin was an Inspector General at the Corporation for National and Community Service. In 2008 an official from the Corporation’s Suspension and Debarment Office to decided to bar any further government funding to St. HOPE Academy and former Chief Executive Kevin Johnson. It was based on sufficient evidence gathered by the Office of the Inspector General (“OIG”) including charges of misuse of funds and sexual harassment (and subsequent cover-up).
When Obama took over he drastically increased the funding to the CNCS. Obama’s officials and some of his friends started working to get the funding re-instated to the organization I mentioned above. IG Walpin was obviously against such actions and therefore his involvement was prevented and the new settlement was agreed upon to allow funding.
At a 20 May CNCS board meeting, IG “Gerald Walpin complained about the settlement of the St. HOPE matter to the Corporation’s Board. Walpin also stated his intention to call for an FBI investigation into destruction of evidence under subpoena in a federal investigation by St. HOPE personnel.” Immediately after the meeting Chairman Alan Solomont arrived unannounced at the White House to complain about Gerald Walpin. There he talked with the General Counsel and met with Special Counsel to the President Norman Eisen in the parking lot shortly after where he was assured the matter would be looked into. Eisen testified before Congress that they did a thorough investigation into Walpin and that the entire CNCS board was in consensus that he should be fired. The only problem is that according to this minority report, Eisen perjured himself. He only spoke with 3 people, all of which who were openly critical of Walpin. No true investigation was conducted. They simply wanted him gone so their friends could get to some of your hard earned tax dollars. I wonder though, since when do those who are being inspected allowed to get rid of the inspector anyways. I guess someone should have told Walpin that he is only allowed to investigate Obama’s political enemies.
I am waiting for the MSM to take this report and run with it. When Bush supposedly fired federal employees for political reasons, they were all over it. Of course they did ignore it when Clinton did the same thing. Surely they are not protecting a corrupt administration. Thats just inconcievable (sarcasm noted). Just in case they cannot find the report, here is a link. I encourage everyone to read it and decide for yourself. I will warn liberals though, it could be another chapter in Malkin’s book, Culture of Corruption.

Chris Ive been following the site for sometime, excellent job with your topics. I am almost finished with the Malkin book and Im amazed at the corruption and cover-ups that are exposed.
I wasnt finished with my post…………..
The AP hires 11 reporters to go after Palin’s book to find any little dirt and I haven’t heard much. Ever since starting the Malkin book, it amazes me that there is not further investigation into the details of situations listed in the book. I would think that some of the situations, would pend on criminal investigations/charges. Could you imagine the fallout? Im all for it.
Definately agree. I knew of a lot of stuff in the book before I read it, but thought the connections that Michelle Obama had were very revealing. Would suggest everyone read it. Will open your eyes.
