Your Obamacare update

October 29, 2009

The White House failed last week to push through the Medicare increase in a separate bill last week.  This is a major blow to Obama and Reid’s agenda.  In a post last week I mentioned how the White House was trying to pass this $247 Billion portion of health care reform as a budgetary item so they could claim their reform bill was deficit neutral.   This, of course, was the plan from the very beginning.  Remember when Obama announced his policy of not adding additional spending unless it was paid for (what a joke, huh).  He specifically said that this policy did not include the Medicare spending.  Luckily the Senate did not fall for this gimmick.  12 Democrats and 1 independent joined Republicans to stop this irresponsible action.  The next thing you will hear from the Obama-ites is these Senators are preventing funding for Medicare.  Just wait for it, its coming.  Although it will be harder with 12 in their own ranks recognizing this stunt for what it was.

The 13 days of closed door meetings to write Obamacare are completed.  This is what you call transparency.  At least in a liberal world where definitions are skewed at will.  And guess what is in the plan.  That’s right, the public option.  This time they have included another veil of State acceptance.  You can read about it here on the Heritage’s blog.  Here is another post.

Speaking of transparency.  Did you hear about the other closed door meetings?  They were with the drug companies.  PhRMA agreed to contribute “$80 Billion to lower costs in exchange for avoiding downward pressure on drug prices”.  PhRMA has now contributed about $150 million for ads promoting Obamacare.  The evil insurers were promised government subsides (your tax dollars) for their support.  And AARP is set to rake in mucho dinero with the cuts in Medicare Advantage.  These cuts will drive people to the plans they promote.  It’s amazing how the liberals who criticize conservatives for pandering to health care lobbyists secretly cut deals with them behind closed doors.

And to top things off, once again the Obama administration had to be told that they are breaking the law.  The Department of Health and Human Services website is urging citizens to send Obama an email praising his health care plan.  They even have a form letter.  Sen. Grassley pointed out that this breaks laws preventing government funded propaganda.  Back to the drawing board.

So there you go, the disaster is still pending.
