Anita Dunn, the White House Communications Director who called Fox News “a wing of the Republican Party” last week has now been caught on tape telling people at a conference how the Obama campaign controlled the news media during the election. Her comments basically said that the media did not put anything out that was not controlled by the Obama campaign. To make matters worse, Fox News has also released a tape of Ms. Dunn talking to a group of high school students where she describes one of her favorite political philosophers as Mao Tse-tung. Mao Tse-tung was a Communist Chinese leader responsible for the death of tens of millions of people.
But even these revelations have not kept the Obama administration from its continued attack on Fox News. From the Fox News website today:
The White House escalated its offensive against Fox News on Sunday by urging other news organizations to stop “following Fox” and instead join the administration’s attempt to marginalize the channel. White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN that President Obama does not want “the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox.” Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is “not a news organization.” “Other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way,” Axelrod counseled ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “We’re not going to treat them that way.”
All of this evidently has stemmed from Fox’s Wallace fact checking one of Obama’s officials. Fact-checking. Really. I thought that was their job. The Obama administration has refused to make any of their officials available to Fox ever since. I guess that is what they get for questioning the ‘One’ and his disciples. I am really at a loss of words when it comes to this situation. In what crazy world does anyone find this activity acceptable, especially since now we have one of their officials on record describing how they control the media. Could you imagine the complete and total outrage if this would have happened during the last administration?
Maybe they are using Saul Alinsky’s rules for radicals. Specifically “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” They have used this tactic before. Or maybe they are just trying to draw attention away from the real issues. They sided with Castro and Chavez instead of Democracy in Honduras. Obama has yet to make a decision on Afghanistan. (Are we at 4 or 5 weeks now) They just got played by Russia with the missile defense and Iran. They are losing their grip on the healthcare takeover and the stimulus has not worked.
They even tried to spin the latest stimulus job numbers last week. Unsuccessfully I would have to say. They reported that the $16 Billion spent created a little over 30,000 jobs. And they reported this to be a positive. Do a little math and you will see that each job cost us the taxpayer about 530,000. That’s some efficiency. What a perfect example of how the government’s over involvement just leads to disaster. For argument sake, let’s say that these jobs had a domino effect of 4 times in the economy. That would be 120,000 jobs. That does not even cover the 263,000 jobs lost last month. And it really does not look good when you realize there have been over 3 million jobs lost since the Stimulus was signed. Even if there were millions of jobs created, they have been created with a false demand. Once the government’s money goes away, so do the jobs. The Keynesian stimulus theory fails again. But we will never know this if the administration can control it. They certainly are trying.
