There are many people who still swear Obama is a Muslim. I do not really believe this point of view. Even though he lived in that culture, his knowledge of Islam is so shallow that I find this accusation hard to believe. There are many others, to include Obama himself, who proclaim that he is a Christian. This is equally as tough to believe. Only God knows for sure, but his words and actions are not those of a Christian. Let’s look at a few of these things.
First, I think you have to look at the church he attended. Rev Wright is well documented in his political sermons, and very hateful ones at that. It was the reason that Oprah decided to leave the church during the 1980’s. Obama joined the church shortly after and stayed for 20 years. Even after he left the church when it came under scrutiny, he kept Rev Wright as an adviser for nearly another year before that was revealed. He then finally officially let him go. The title of one of his books came from Rev Wright himself. More importantly though is what the church taught. First it taught what it called ‘fixing the economic mal-distribution’ (meaning socialistic policies). Obviously this misses the point. This church also supports gay marriage. The Bible is very specific about this issue. It says that the practice is wrong and goes further rebuking those who approve of those who practice homosexuality. The church also gave an award to Louis Farrakhan, the leader of Nation of Islam. This obviously placed his race ahead of his religious beliefs. A Christian church cannot be justified in this action. And this is the church Obama chose to attend for 20 years.
The Bible is also very clear on abortion. It is wrong as well. During a debate Obama said that he did not know when a fetus should be considered a human being. It was above his pay grade. Of course it is above his pay grade, but that is why we have the Bible. His actions on this issue; however, show a person who sees this issue as black and white. During his time in the state legislature he voted ‘present’ on a law banning partial birth abortion. In the US Senate he voted against a measure that would force doctors to notify parents if their daughter went across state lines to get an abortion.
Once in office, his very first action was to repeal the Mexico City Policy, allowing federal funding for abortions overseas. This action allowed Congress to re-instate funding to the United Nations Population Fund. Bush stopped funding to this organization because of their documented relationship in helping China execute their one child policy.
Obama has removed restrictions on embryonic stem cell research and his administration also made the over the counter morning after pill available to 17 year olds. Personally I think just supporting the pill is bad enough.
In May Obama chose not to attend a prayer breakfast nor hold one at the White House as President Bush had for the previous 8 years. Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Committee, was quoted as saying she was “disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama administration.” He did, however, hold a Passover Seder dinner for the Jewish Religion and also a dinner honoring Ramadan (Islam).
After not holding a prayer breakfast, Obama did decide to speak last week at The Human Rights Campaign 13th annual dinner. The HRC is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization. You can read the text of the whole speech here, but I have pulled some pertinent quotes.
“And I’ve called on Congress to repeal the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and to pass the Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act.”
“For nearly 30 years, you’ve advocated on behalf of those without a voice. That’s not easy. For despite the real gains that we’ve made, there’s still laws to change and there’s still hearts to open. There are still fellow citizens, perhaps neighbors, even loved ones - good and decent people - who hold fast to outworn arguments and old attitudes; who fail to see your families like their families”
“this fight continue now. And I’m here with a simple message: I’m here with you in that fight.”
“My expectation is that when you look back on these years, you will see a time in which we put a stop to discrimination against gays and lesbians - whether in the office or on the battlefield. (Applause.) You will see a time in which we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men or two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman.”
“I will end Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. That’s my commitment to you.”
“I’ve required all agencies in the federal government to extend as many federal benefits as possible to LGBT families as the current law allows. And I’ve called on Congress to repeal the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and to pass the Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act. (Applause.) And we must all stand together against divisive and deceptive efforts to feed people’s lingering fears for political and ideological gain.”
“For while there will be setbacks and bumps along the road, the truth is that our common ideals are a force far stronger than any division that some might sow. These ideals, when voiced by generations of citizens, are what made it possible for me to stand here today. (Applause.) These ideals are what made it possible for the people in this room to live freely and openly when for most of history that would have been inconceivable. That’s the promise of America, HRC. That’s the promise we’re called to fulfill. (Applause.) Day by day, law by law, changing mind by mind, that is the promise we are fulfilling. Thank you for the work you’re doing. God bless you. God bless America.”
How ironic that he would use God’s name while defending something the Bible specifically defines as wicked. We are indeed lucky we have a merciful God. Hopefully in the near future we will elect a more God fearing leaders in both the highest office and in Congress. Until then we can only pray that God will change their hearts.

Very interesting thoughts. I think Obama is a Leftist, and that this is his primary religion. Where he can use Christianity to further Leftism, he will do so; where he can use Islam, he will do that. He will say and do anything, dishonest or anti-Biblical (as you point out) though it may be, because his “religion” advocates achieving its goals by any means necessary (see Karl Marx).
Any means necessary also applies to Saul Alinsky, which I feel he has even closer ties to. Excellent point about using Christianity when it is beneficial. I have noticed he will use it to push his socialists ideas (even though the Bible does not teach that), but not when it comes to the social issues.
