Pick and Choose

September 17, 2009

Representative Joe Wilson lost his cool during the President’s last speech when he called Obama a liar.  Not to condone his actions, but he basically said what most Americans have been thinking every time Obama speaks.  In fact I rarely watch him anymore out of the fear that I might lose it and throw something at my TV.  And I like my TV.

Unbeknownst to the MSM, there have actually been a lot of other things going on this week.  But instead of blasting out posts on all these wild happenings, I have just been sitting back and taking it all in.  (As well as shooting down some liberal over at Diversity Lane who was actually defending ACORN).  As I did, I could not help but to notice how this administration along with its media counterparts picks and chooses what to cover and how to cover it.  Take Joe for instance.  He called the President a liar, and then called to apologize later.  Issue over, right?  Well, not really.  Yesterday he was the first congressman in the history of our country to be formally rebuked.  It was tried in ‘07 against Democrat Pete Stark for saying that U.S. troops were being sent to Iraq “to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement”, but the measure failed.  If that statement is not enough for a formal rebuke, then how could Joe Wilson’s comment be?  It’s easy really.  Democrats were in control in both cases.  Also left out of most media outlets is a flashback to President Bush’s State of the Union Address that was interrupted by numerous Democrats booing or the fact that Obama is seen cheering on his comrades for their disruption.  You would think this would warrant an apology, but evidently it did not.  These same people booed Bush during Obama’s inauguration and still the media stood silent.  It’s all about picking and choosing.

While the media covered Mr. Joe Wilson, they completely ignored both Van Jones and the ACORN scandal.  No tough questions have been asked and in the rare case that they are, the White House skirts around anything resembling a true answer.  When the media did finally ask a powder puff question about ACORN, Gibbs answer was almost laughable.  “Obviously, the conduct that you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable. I think everyone would agree to that…The administration takes accountability extremely seriously.”  Really?  After standing by every exposed crooked appointment or remaining utterly silent in the case of Van Jones.  Probably worse though is the media and their lack of investigative questioning.  This is an organization that Obama worked for both with the voter registration wing as an organizer, and as a lawyer for the group under fire now.  According to a whistleblower his campaign gave their donor list to ACORN to use.  That is illegal.  His campaign also funneled 800,000 to the organization to help with his campaign.  Where are these questions?  Even the liberal fake journalist Jon Stewart had to ridicule his MSM friends.  You can watch it here.   It is pretty funny.

But just like during the campaign with their Sarah Palin attacks, the media’s so called investigative reporting is misplaced and biased.  A fact that I am sure the White House is enjoying.  They jump all over the story that Obama called Kanye West a jackass, (with a spin of “see, he is just a normal guy like us”), but ignore probing questions about more important matters.  (Why would they even ask him about Kayne in the first place?)  You would think with the revelation of Van Jones you would see a barrage of questions about other un-vetted appointees, but these czars have still avoided that kind of media scrutiny.  There are also tough questions that should be asked about the War in Afghanistan.  Will Obama follow through with the promise to do what is necessary to win a war he called vital to the war on terrorism, or will he once again bow to the hard left?  Right now he is being silent on the matter.

I imagine that I could go on for quite a while listing example after example of how the media picks and chooses what to cover in order to promote their agenda, but then I guess I would just be another right winger ranting.  By now I think the obvious is known and until these media outlets come to realize this they will continue to be an embarrassment to their profession.

Well– so much for claming me down. This time your post was like a surgeon calmly demonstrating to me the cancer encrusting my innards in an x-ray photo. In reviewing last week’s moral/cultural/political outrages you induced me to revisit last week’s angst RE: the over-the-cliff direction the country is headed in, and by the time I finished this post I was ready for a beer or three! I’d better plan out a new cartoon or something…helps ease the tension, and easier on the system than alcohol. Anyway– at least ACORN looks to be buried, so to speak, in a world of trouble. Here’s hoping it keeps up (I’m liftng a beer).

Sorry about that Zach. I guess those liberals over on your site are getting me going a bit….lol. I will do you one better though. I am headed to Germany this weekend for Octoberfest. I’ve been told it can make you forget all about Obama and his minions…well, at least for a day or two.
