Not surprisingly Van Jones resigned over the weekend. And also not surprising was that the order did not come from Obama. He has not shown leadership on any key issue thus far and such was the case with Van Jones. The White House was very quiet as one of their many radicals was exposed. Van Jones did not go quietly either. In his statement he accused us right wingers of a “vicious smear campaign” saying “they are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.” Lies and distortions from video and written documents. That’s just too funny. It is the ultimate denial. The White House says that he did not fill out the 63 question questionnaire given to potential nominees. Although not a good thing, personally, I do not think you need a questionnaire to see his radical past; all you need is a computer with an internet connection. A quick 30 minute check and they could have ruled him out. But that was not their intent. Valerie Jarrett said during his appointment that they had been following him for quite a while and were excited to recruit him to work in the White House. They knew what they were getting and simply thought that it was acceptable or thought no one would notice. After all, the voters did elect Obama.
The administration hopes that this resignation will end the controversy, but it is just the beginning. By exposing Van Jones, conservatives have re-exposed Obama’s own radical past. They have also opened Pandora’s Box on the rest of the un-vetted czars in the Obama’s administration and even his policy of using them at all. People will now want to know more and more about these people in the administration who have arrived will little to no press coverage. The problem for conservatives will be whose next because there are so many radicals to choose from. I even think some of his confirmed appointees should come under fire, but that is just me. Take David Ogden, Assistant AG, for example.
Or perhaps Harold Koh. He is the top legal adviser for the state department. His views are also very radical, but he slipped through confirmation with very little scrutiny. Like Jones’ self professed belief in Black Nationalism and communism, Koh’s belief in transnationalism is something that he does not keep a secret. And in his position as the chief counsel for the State Department, this is a very dangerous thing. In very simple terms, transnationalism is the belief that national law should be subservient to international law. That as people evolve, we should rule based upon what a world society deems is acceptable and unacceptable. A very Darwinian concept of law. Here is the Wikipedia explanation of transnationalism and here is an article in the National Review explaining it with regards to Harold Koh’s beliefs.
His belief in this concept can be easily seen in his past positions. In 2002 he wrote that if US forces attacked Saddam Hussein without U.N. authorization, then we would be in violation of international law. This despite Congress had already given the President authorization for the use of force. In a 2004 article, Koh even included America alongside Iraq and North Korea as part of an “axis of disobedience”. It is a simple case of Koh believing national law is subservient to international law. You could make a case that it was purely political since technically Iraq’s violations of UN resolutions made the use of force legal, but more than likely it is just a case of another liberal only looking at the International laws that are convenient for their position.
Other evidence is abundant. He sided with the international court in 2003 when Mexico sued the United States because we convicted 51 Mexican nationals without informing them that a treaty entitled them to assistance from the Mexican consulate. The most famous of these criminals was Medellin, a ringleader in a gang rape and murder of two teenage girls. He has also urged the United States to join the International Criminal Court and even argued that the world needs global regulation of small arms and a global gun control regime. That last one is my favorite. It would be interesting to hear his explanation of how this does not conflict with the 2nd Amendment. Oh, I almost forgot…he is a transnationalist. Nevermind.
There might be some better targets out there, but it is a start. I am sure Beck and other radicals out there will reveal some really good stuff over the next month or so. Hopefully the pressure will continue until finally Obama has to start taking responsibility for these people he has placed into positions of power. I’m new, or we forgot to vet him just does not cut it anymore.
