The stimulus has all but been forgotten with the current health care debate, but the waste and debt are still as real as ever. Many people cautioned the administration and Congress about the stimulus and its ill effects, but few liberals listened. Along with help from 3 Republican Senators they passed the largest spending bill in history. And guess what. As it turns out, the stimulus has not done much of anything despite Democrats’ claims. Remember Obama saying that if we do not pass the stimulus we may never recover. I do. I also remember Congress rushing to pass the legislation and then Obama taking a three day holiday before coming back to Washington to sign it. For anyone wanting to still argue that the stimulus was a good thing, I offer this research from the RNC. It is called 200 Days, 200 Claims. It outlines 200 claims made by Democrats in Congress and in the White House and the actual data that either proved their pre-stimulus claims wrong or shows they are not currently truthful in their statements.
It shows that when the government gets involved, you cannot stop the waste, corruption, and abuse no matter how good your intentions are. It has been proven time and time again throughout our history. Why should we expect a health care takeover to be any different?
