4th of July

July 2, 2009

In his staged town hall meeting that had even liberal reporter Helen Thomas up in arms, Obama said the following about our constitution and its relation to Congress moving slowly on legislation.

“Part of that is the way the Constitution is designed. We don’t have coups or governments collapsing. The disadvantage is it’s hard for us to make great, big, bold steps.”

How ironic that as we near the 4th of July Obama would once again comment on how he believes the government needs to step in and do ‘bold things’ to fix problems.  I guess he sees the Constitution as a hindrance to the expansion of his liberal agenda, but that is why we have it.  That is why we celebrate this weekend.  It is for the brave men and women who risked their lives long ago and founded this country and founded it on the basis of a limited government.  And on that note, as you enjoy your hotdogs and hamburgers this weekend, please take a moment and think of those who are enjoying theirs on foreign soil.  Those who are still protecting your freedoms today.  Have a safe one.
