I have been waiting a few days to see what the fallout would be for the David Letterman comments about Sarah Palin and her daughter. In the mean time ABC, feeling left out of the controversy like North Korea, announced that they would ramp up their propaganda machine for Obama’s healthcare plan. They deny these claims, which is pretty humorous. The White House Director of Communications for health reform is Linda Douglass, who worked for ABC news for 8 years. They are airing a special on Obama’s health care plan and are promoting it on several other programs during the day. They have also denied the Republican National Committee’s request that they be allowed to offer their ideas on health reform that counter the President’s plan. I am sure all of that is just coincidence though. You can decide for yourself.
But back to David Letterman. As most I am sure have heard, he made very insensitive remarks about Sarah Palin (Bought makeup at Bloomingdale’s to update her slutty flight attendant look) and also her daughter (daughter had been knocked up by Yankees star Alex Rodriguez during the seventh-inning stretch of a Yankees game). His initial response to criticism was that he was talking about Palin’s 18 year old daughter, not the 14 year old daughter who attended the Yankees game. He then came on the air again to once again partially apologize for the joke. David Letterman just does not get it and neither does CBS. I do remember not too long ago when Don Imus was fired for making insensitive comments about Rutgers female basketball players. And this was after an immediate and complete apology, a meeting with the players and Al Sharpton of all people. I was expecting the same response from CBS in this case, but I am not seeing it.
This goes further than just Letterman. Imus is a radio talk show host who has control over his comments. David Letterman’s top ten list and monologue are written by a team of writers and approved by himself and the producers of the show. These people should no longer have jobs. The comments about Palin can be expected from the conscious-less Hollywood left, but to make even more insensitive comments about her daughters is just flat out inexcusable.
If you are upset like I am then don’t just complain. Write CBS until they fire him. Here is the link. And you can write ABC for good measure as well.

I think that it was wrong of Letterman to say what he said. However, I do not think the man should be fired. I didn’t think Imus should have been fired.
If you don’t like what you hear or see….change the channel. Conan’s got a pretty cool show. Watch his.
He apologized. I think everyone should move on.
We are looking into the eyes of nationalized healthcare, threats from North Korea, a political scandal in Iran resulting in possible revolution…..and we can’t get over a talk show host?
It is just my opinion…..but I think it makes us look like cry babies to spend this much energy on this kind of issue. Why isn’t the apology enough?
Well, he never really apologized if you read what he said and I only spent 20 minutes on it
I just think there is a point where you have to stand up to people who go on the air and spew this kind of garbage or they will just continue to do it. David said Palin couldn’t take a joke before he got pressured. He is known for taking shots at politicians, but going after kids is another story, especially considering the context of the jokes he used.
It was “a coarse joke,” “a bad joke,” Letterman told viewers. “But I never thought it was (about) anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure, in fact, that she is of legal age, 18.”
“The joke, really, in and of itself, can’t be defended,” he declared.
If there’s a misconception that he was making the joke about a 14-year-old, Letterman said he understands why people are upset. “I would be upset myself,” he said.
“I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke,” he said. “It’s not your fault that it was misunderstood, it’s my fault that it was misunderstood.”
She did stand up to him. She backed him in a little corner and got an apology, as well she should have. She seems to be cool with it now and it’s her kids.
I don’t know about him being fired for the comments, but I do think it was in poor taste. It wasn’t just something he accidently let slip, the writers wrote it and he approved. I do think the joke was about the younger daughter originally because she was actually at the game. He just had to back track and make it seem like it wasn’t. How does the joke even make sense when the older one wasn’t even there? I know he apologized and we should just let it go. I know we all have freedom of speech but it’s irritating that it has become acceptable to say awful things about republicans just because we have different views.
I really don’t mind when I hear nasty things about the right. But then again, I am a huge Ann Coulter fan too and she almost balances the universe on her own.
Plus the nasty things said about the right are not backed with much. You can have a field day with the left and base it all on facts….
It’s good clean fun.
On the ABC front, I see now that ABC is refusing paid air time to organizations who represent alternate healthcare reform ideas.
The government has it’s own media outlet now. If the people really want someone to be fired…..these “journalists” would be a good start.
“My job as a journalist is to make sure that this man succeeds.”

My fellow American Citizens,
What do Billy Mays , Michael Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett have in common? The news would rather talk about them than the President, U.S. Congress, or Judge Sotomayor. They want you to stop and think, “Where was I when Elvis died?” not “Where was I when my Civil Liberties died?” for those of you paying more attention to pop culture than real life I have some breaking news for you. Bush is no longer President, stop blaming him. Unemployment is up, contrary to what the “news” reported Obama saying. North Korea wants to kill us. U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday the coup that ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was illegal and would set a “terrible precedent” of transition by military force unless it was reversed.
Do not get me wrong — President Oabma is not being under-covered in the news. We know that he has a new dog, not from the pound like he suggested. We know that he likes to go on dates with his wife that cost over one hundred thousand dollars at a time. We know that his Grandmother was a “typical white woman”. We know what church he attends, or attended, even though he didn’t know any of the sermons given by his pastor for 20 years. We know that he will allow five days of public comment before signing any bills, oops he did it again.
The U.S. House just passed the single largest tax increase in U.S. history. Congress wants the right to control anything that emits Carbon Dioxide, including but not limited to: , Coal, & Cows. Oh, did I mention that we emit Carbon Dioxide also? Or that trees and plants need it to live? It would seem that the 1,500 page bill passing (219-212) would be alittle more worthy of mentioning. Now Al Gore can sell his “Carbon Off-Sets , ” whatever that really is. I suppose that Obama is keeping his promise that “Energy Prices Will Skyrocket Under My Cap and Trade Plan”* Also, good job passing the “Official” appology for slavery. Let’s see, slavery Officially ended when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified by the states in 1865, the 14th Amendment provided for Civil Rights in 1868, the 15th Amendment banned racial restrictions on voting in 1870. So, everyone who was directly affected by conditions in the United States before this time period is dead! Let’s move on already.

This just in ‘Transformers’ tops global box office. Wait, falling for media distractions again. Well it made the headlines anyways.
Let’s make a new law. In order to be a Supreme Court Justice, you have to have less than 50% of your cases overturned by the Supreme Court. Attention Judge Sotomayor, discrimination is as discrimination does. You do not have to be a minority in the total global population to be discriminated againt. Oh wait, there are more than 6.5 billion people and nearly 2/3 of them are Asians. I suppose the White fire fighters were minorities afterall. The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides equal protection and does not make room for a “wise Latina woman” whom would judge better than white male.
So, you stick with the top headline on CNN “Jackson’s mom gets guardianship of his kids” and I’ll stick with “Target: Hawaii”. Thanks Wall Street Journal for bringing news. Now go back to reading the complete coverage of Michael Jackson’s death.

In reference to death of celebrities, especially Michael Jackson, I would say it is unfortunate he died but also unfortunate he chose to live his life as he did. Recently in early June there was a WWII hero who died and it was not covered very much by the media. Of course the news only shows what will get them a ratings boost so it is really a reflection of our society and a sad one at that.
