FBI raids offices of lobbying firms with ties to Rep. John Murtha

February 19, 2009

It appears that my favorite person in the world might be in some trouble.  The FBI has raided a couple of defense lobbying firms with close ties to John Murtha.  PMA, which was founded by a former Murtha aid, and Kuchera Industries were both raided in the last few months.

Most people who have followed my blog from the beginning know how I feel about John Murtha.  He is part of the reason the blog was born, starting with the letter I wrote to his office well over a year ago.  I also gave a few thoughts after he was re-elected this term.

Well it seems that in addition to some character issues, he has also fallen into the ethics trap that many of his colleagues have fallen into to include Burris (Obama’s replacement), Daschle, Blago, and Richardson…to name a few.

Before someone goes off on how I am accusing Murtha with no evidence, I will state what we know.  Murtha chairs the Defense Appropriations subcommittee.  These two companies have received over $100 million in earmarks from Murtha’s office and hundreds of thousands of campaign donations have come in.  This combined with a long history of criticisms from good government groups about his relationships with these firms does not make a compelling defense for Murtha.

I am just going by the old adage.  If it looks wrong, smells wrong, tastes wrong, then something is probably wrong.  Then of course there is the argument that he is a politician.  Kinda like Willie and weed.

Except Willie is right.

Good letter.
Looks like Obama could do better with a cabinet of Oompa Loompas.

So harsh. Oompa Loompas are cool.

Exactly. They are great workers and I would bet my Wonka bar that they pay their taxes!

Oompa Loompas seem like they’d be pretty honest too. If only Murtha would turn into a giant blueberry when he did something wrong.
