Evidently the Golden Globes were on the other night and in their usual ways, many of the celebrities made obscene gestures and said a few things that should not be said on network TV. In response to this, some complaints were made to the FCC so now they are investigating the network. The LA times doing their journalistic duty simply reported this.
But the comments you find on these ultra-media liberal outlets are quite enlightening. It enlightens me to the uneducated masses that now inhabit this great country of ours. Most of the time I just ignore them, but this time I was intrigued mainly because this time these liberal minds were using an argument to defend their celebrity brethren that is normally used by the Christian Right. I thought it to be quite humorous since they did not realize they were doing it.
Here are a few of the comments for your amusement.
“There are 305 million people in this country and it only takes 18 people complaining to an obsolete agency to launch an investigation”
“18 whole complaints & taxpayer $$$ will be wasted on an investigation? Don’t like what’s on, change the channel, turn it off, or move to CUBA or the communist nation of your choosing”
“The more important question should be where did those 18 complaints come from? Bet you from the American Family Association. They are notorious for promoting the biblical ethic of decency in American society with primary emphasis on TV and other media. In other words shoving their Christian beliefs upon the general public.”
“FCC should not exist for policing things that should be ok under freedom of speech. Here’s an idea for all the whiner’s about decency on TV. There’s a knob on the front and buttons on your remote…. IF you don’t like it, change the Channel!”
“Remember: it only took ONE to get prayer yanked from Anerica’s schools!
GOOD!
Prayer should never have been in schools to begin with. Keep it in your church or your home where it belongs, NOT imposed on the non-superstitious or those with other superstitions of their own. You have every right to believe any stupid superstition you want, but don’t force it on MY kids. And don’t think for a second that you can impose your “morals” on me.
Superstitions that purport to give you the right to suppress a womens reproductive freedom, the right to prohibit consuming whatever someone desires, the right to have multiple wives, or any right to suppress MY speech because you disagree with what I say or believe will put you at the pointy end of my spear.”
Do these arguments sound familiar? Only a few complaints and you are attacking my rights? If you don’t agree with it, then just change the channel, ignore it? Imposing your beliefs and morals on me?
Once again it seems that it is ok for them to push their beliefs and lack of morals on society, but when our morals and beliefs as Christians are violated under the same circumstances, we should just simply take it or “change the channel”
If I remember correctly it was only a few that forced the removal of prayer from school, and it was only a few complaints just this year that forced the removal of Christmas Trees from a UNC library. Where was the ACLU and these liberal protectors of first amendment rights then? That’s right. They were nowhere to be found.
I guess their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
