Obama Scraps Visit to Wounded Soldiers

July 25, 2008

In the midst of his tour of the world, Barack Obama has scrapped a visit to see wounded troops while in Germany. Obama’s explanation was he thought it would be inappropriate on a campaign-funded journey to visit wounded soldiers.  Another bonehead decision from a man who just last week said that he needed to gain the trust and respect of the military.  Does he really think that anyone will believe this poor excuse?  If it was inappropriate, then why was it scheduled in the first place?  It is not like this trip was done on a whim.

John McCain’s campaign got it right.  There response was it is never inappropriate to visit the troops.  If he didn’t want the media there to make it a circus, then he could have made the short trip without them.  Or if he didn’t want to spend campaign money, then he could have spent his own; it isn’t like he is exactly hurting.

I guess he just didn’t have time with all his speeches.  That is what he really wants; the publicity.  He is much more inclined to give historic speeches than to talk about the issues or in this case, figure out where all these countries are in Europe.

He has spent his time pandering to the socialist countries of Europe.  Apologizing to Germany, a country who over the last 5 years has done everything in their power to not help us in our time of need.  I am sure he feels at home in Europe because they believe what he believes.  That we were mistaken going into Iraq.  Their liberal stance on social issues.  Their socialist economic systems.  Just take this one statement from his speech.

“we must build on the wealth that open markets have created, and share its benefits more equitably”

Sounds like a socialist to me.  What do you think?

As much as this statement goes against what this country was built upon, it is not surprising.  You can find just about the exact same statement on his church’s website.  What was surprising in his speech was his stance on Afghanistan.  Here are some of his comments.

“This is the moment when we must defeat terror and dry up the well of extremism that supports it…. This threat is real and we cannot shrink from our responsibility to combat it….This is the moment when we must renew our resolve to rout the terrorists who threaten our security in Afghanistan…. We have too much at stake to turn back now.”

What?  It is like he plagiarized one of President Bush’s speeches on Iraq.  His plan of run, run, run in Iraq evidently did not bolster his stance against terrorism enough so Obama has decided to take a tough stance in a more popular fight.  Afghanistan.

Personally I am tired of all of Obama’s political games.  Games he is playing on unknowing, and many times uneducated voters.  He is taking advantage of their ignorance and playing them for everything they are worth.

I just hope more people start to catch on to these games and do not vote for a man with so little foreign experience that he must take a world tour to meet everyone.  If not, maybe I should run for president.  Don’t laugh.  I’ve been to Iraq; I’ve been to Europe; and I go to China for 2 weeks in September.  What, that doesn’t make me qualified?
