Obama’s Troop Surge

July 23, 2008

Is it just me or are the media and the rest of the Democratic Party suddenly ok with troop surges.  Both of these groups had another round of Bush bashing when the President presented his plan to increase the number of troops in Iraq.  Now recently Obama said that he wants to increase the troop numbers in Afghanistan and no one has a problem with it.  This one instance tells me a lot about the Democratic Party and the media for that manner.

Barack Obama led the charge criticizing President Bush’s troop surge plan.  A plan that really didn’t come from the President, but rather was a request from the commanders on the ground.  The same commanders that Obama has avoided since 2006.

Weeks into implementation of the troop surge Obama was already calling it a failure.  Now that it has obviously been a success, his campaign purged all this criticism of the troop surge from their website earlier this month.  When the Obama campaign was called out on this maneuver, they called it routine website maintenance.  You don’t have to be a lawyer to figure out that is a lie.

Obama is notorious for this type of politics.  He is very Clinton-esk.  He will tell you what you want to hear whenever it is popular for you to hear it only to quietly remove himself from the comments at a later time.  It is a tactic that has worked for Democrats for the last 2 decades.  And it is possible because the media is biased and lets them get away with it.  But do not fret, not everyone is fooled by politicians’ games.  Some of us are educated.
